Fund Raising

These families do not just get a typical Christmas hamper. One car load is one family. Each family receives enough nonperishables and other necessities along with gifts to last them at least three months. In doing this, our hope is that it will alleviate some of the stress they have and will be able to concentrate on getting a job or bettering their lives in some way without having to worry about where their next meal is going to come from and in doing this we have had much success. The more donations the more families we are able to help. Our goal is always at least 10 families per year and we have helped as many as 19 one year. The generosity of people like you are what makes this cause possible.

About Coleton...

Coleton was a fun loving boy who lived and breathed hockey. Just before he died he discovered a new love for snowboarding and basketball. It was always a pleasure to watch him on and off the ice. His quirky ways and silly laugh was enough to make anyone smile. He was a fussy eater and hated school. Coleton loved everyone and he had a wide variety of friends; He believed there was good in everyone and I have to say I have learned a lot from my son since he has been gone.

About Ryker...

Ryker was one of the happiest babies I have ever known and am fortunate to call my grandson. Ryker’s naughty ways and mischievous smile was enough to bring anyone out of a sad state of mind; once you met these boys you would never forget them and we will not let them be forgotten. Through Coleton claus and Ryker's reindeer and through your willingness to give back these boys WILL live on. To live in the hearts of those we love is NEVER to die

Letters

"I don't know if you would remember me, but I definitely remember you and your family. A few years ago, I was living in a basement suite in Abbotsford near Highstreet mall. My daughter and I were on our own there and I was on income assistance at the time. I didn't have much money and only had a grade ten education. I had to go to the food bank for food and that was extremely difficult for me. I felt trapped in a life of dependence and I didn't know how to get out of it. I was dreading Christmas that year because I knew I wouldn't be able to afford the Christmas I wanted to give my daughter. I remember being at the food bank filling in paperwork for a Christmas hamper and it asked what I wanted for myself. Toilet paper was one of the few things on the list and even though to some people that's a silly (not) gift, to me that was huge. I was so grateful and forever will be grateful for your help that Christmas. Since that time, I have gone back to school and I became a Community Health Worker. I work for Fraser Health with seniors and I absolutely love my job. My daughter is now almost 5 and she just started kindergarten. She is so bright and a talented little artist. I am engaged to a wonderful man and we are getting married next year. After that time, he is adopting my daughter as his own. I have the card you gave me of your Coleton in my wallet and I am reminder of your kindness daily. It is a bit worn around the edges from being moved from one wallet to another but it's always with me. I just wanted to let you know the impact you have had on my life and on Zoey's life. Thank you again Brenda and Wayne. I would love to meet you again one day."
